HYSTERIA

Background
Inspector Sands is a collective of award-winning theatre-makers with a body of acclaimed work between them. Hysteria is a co-production with Stamping Ground Theatre whose ' A Quiet Afternoon ' received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe '04 and on its UK and Irish Tours, including a run at Riverside Studios, London. Hysteria is a highly expressive devised piece about panic, the apocalypse and table manners. The show has appeal to a diverse audience.

Hysteria was developed through scratch programmes at the Battersea Arts Centre and the Nightingale Theatre in Brighton. A work-in-progress showing took place in March 2006 at the Nightingale Theatre and at the BAC's Burst festival, followed by a showcase performance at the prestigious Ruhrfestpiele in Recklinghausen, Germany in June '06.   Hysteria was also selected for the final short-list of the Oxford Samuel Beckett Award 2005.

Future
Hysteria was one of two UK companies selected for the prestigious international programme at Aurora Nova , Edinburgh 2006 . Following a sell-out run and critical acclaim in Edinburgh, Hysteria has been invited to the London International Mime Festival, Highfest in Armenia and the Dublin Fringe 2007. Other international and national touring is being discussed for 2007-2008, including dates in Australia and India.

The company has received support from The British Council in Germany, the Arts Council England and The National Lottery's Awards for All Scheme.
